Our History

Founded in 2003 as an independent think tank by Dr. A. K. Verma, former Chair and Professor at the Department of Political Science, Christ Church College, Kanpur, the Centre for the Study of Society and Politics (CSSP), is a research institute and think tank with a view to contributing towards innovative interventions in higher education in Social Sciences especially in South Asia. It is an independent research institute with no affiliation to any ideology or institution. It is located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

During its early years, the CSSP has been concentrating on research and writings. We publish a social science journal called Shodharthy. Also, we organize Research Workshops to promote the Research Culture in India and Talks-cum-Discussions for awareness and better Political Culture.

CSSP is also in the field of Election Studies, and Political Consultancies.

Vision & Values

The vision of the Centre for the Study of Society and Politics (CSSP) is to be an institution working continuously for excellence in Social Science Research to serve as a valuable resource for society and contribute to the nation’s development. For this purpose, we work on two basics: first to train the Scholars for better Research Culture and Second to publish standard publications like articles, Books or Youtube lectures to strengthen the thinking process of the Society. CSSP is really worried to see the decline in Political System and continuously works on the probability of ‘The National Institute of Professional Politics’. We Think Only trained Political personnel can change the nature of Politics.
